Bode Buccal 2 Cassette
The Bode Buccal DNA Collector Archival and Automation Cassette is a paper cassette with built-in adhesive that allows for easy conversion from the Bode Buccal DNA Collector. The collector snaps into the card and the handle is removed. This conversion makes the collector/cassette compatible with automated punchers and liquid-handling robots.

Bode also offers the Buccal Archival Trays for bulk storage of the Bode Buccal DNA Collectors. 


Long-Term Storage

The Bode Buccal Collectors can be stored at room temperature in a cool, dry environment. The Bode Armor and the Bode Vault have been developed to improve results when DNA samples are stored.

Bode Armor is a reagent applied to the Bode Buccal DNA Collector and the Bode Buccal 2 devices that enhances DNA stability during long-term storage of collected samples.  The reagent helps protect against common factors leading to sample degradation such as:

  • Temperature and humidity
  • Enzymes (DNase)
  • Bacteria.

In a controlled internal study with accelerated sample aging to a simulated 30 years of storage, samples treated with Bode Armor showed significantly less sample degradation.

The Bode Vault is a desiccated storage system designed to enhance long-term storage of DNA samples at room temperature. The Bode Vault includes a foil barrier pouch containing desiccants to create a microenvironment for long-term storage and sample protection that helps increase sample stability by protecting against degradation caused by environmental effects.

The Bode Buccal DNA Collector is supported by all major manufacturers’ (Thermo Fisher Scientific, Promega, and QIAGEN) direct amplification kits. Bode Cellmark’s technical services team can provide recommended protocols and cycle numbers to achieve a high first-pass success rate.

The Bode Buccal DNA Collector is a direct collection system. The sample processed in the laboratory is the same sample that was collected from the individual’s mouth. As a direct collection system, it does not require the transfer step that is necessary when using treated cards.
